Belgian NGO files war crimes complaint in Spain against Israeli tourist

The Belgian NGO Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has filed a criminal complaint in Spain against an Israeli tourist, accusing him of committing war crimes in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanun, the organization said on Wednesday.

HRF alleges that during his service in the IDF’s Netzah Yehuda Battalion, the soldier killed unarmed civilians, tortured detainees, and participated in the systematic destruction of Palestinian property.

The organization asked Spanish authorities to urgently detain the traveler to prevent his departure and “ensure accountability.” So far, no response from Spanish officials has been reported.

In its filing, HRF states that Netzah Yehuda — formerly linked to the Nahal framework and now part of the Kfir Brigade — has faced long-standing international criticism for its activities in occupied Palestinian territories.

The complaint includes photographs allegedly showing the Israeli soldier in uniform in Gaza, as well as a separate image of him in Barcelona.

HRF says it has filed roughly 30 complaints — and according to one unverified European source, possibly up to 50 — across around 15 countries, targeting current and former IDF personnel. The group has also submitted to the International Criminal Court the names of about 1,000 soldiers and senior officers.

The complaint also notes that sharing photos from operational zones violates IDF regulations governing soldiers’ online conduct, which restrict posting images in uniform or from active missions and warn against publishing content that could be interpreted as harming civilians.
